Hawaii, Day 3

Toby, Allie, and myself visited Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, the Place of Refuge.

5: We left the beach and headed slightly inland towards a lava tube, passing by a few kou trees

9: The lava tube had a spikey ceiling (watch your head!) and a very rough floor (watch your step!). It varied in height from about 1 to 2 metres, forcing us to almost have to crawl at points.

10: The tube dead-ended in a cliff face. Just beyond Toby and Allie, the rock face goes straight down to the sea, about 15 metres below us.
